Seize the Day...

.........or die regretting the things you lost

And that was totally snaked from an Avenged Sevenfold song, Seize the Day, off their new album City of Evil. I'm writing this blog in honour of the concert that i will be missing tonight in Calgary. One of the guys in my chem lab even asked me if i wanted to go cuase they still had room in their car, but nope, sure didn't seize the fucking carp on the one. I saw A7X at Vans Warped Tour this summer and they were sooo amazing. So of course i'd want to see them again.

The reasons that i chose not to go:
1. It's tuesday night
2. I have a mandatory tutorial on tuesday afternoon, so i couldn't leave til later and then i'd be late for the concert.
3. I have a lab tomorrow (Although we would be back for that)
4. I'm saving my money for Mexico
5. I'd miss NCIS

And will i regret this? oh probably... Basically, i'm just a big nerd without a life and i'm trying to focus on school.

In other news, my first ultimate game went well. we won 28-8. And guess what! I hurt myself on my first shift! haha A disc hit my hand as i was playing D and got deflected ( i think the other team still managed to get to it though) and my finger got bent backwards. yay. Everything is A.O.K now though. And i still managed to score a point before i went off!

I went and saw Cats with my gramma on sunday. It was pretty good. Entertaining for sure. I don't know if I'd go see it again though. Maybe in a big city or something, but there's other shows i'd see agian before seeing this one. Like Rent, I'd go see that one again. And It's coming out in Theaters this week so i'll go see it then too! I just hope they don't butcher it too much...

That's all for now,
NCIS is on.

Wide Awake

Recently, I've taken to sleeping with my eyes open and with the lights on. Or so I'm told. I do recall said sleeping with my eyes open, but i do remember being woken up in the middle of the night with my light on and then turning it off, and then going back to sleep. Regardless, this is creepy none the less. Must have had a fever that night to turn my sleep all wonky.

I went to Bedouin Soundclash last night. At the beginning of their set, I said that they would play their one and only single (which I admit to thoroughly enjoying) to close their set. They did. I'm fucking psychic or something. The rest of the show was pretty good. The band started off with good energy, but i found they lost it a bit while jamming a bit too long on some songs. oh ya, they covered a The Clash song that i don't think anyone knew.... well at least I didn't.... but really, I can't say i know many The Clash songs. I'm pretty sure their encore was my favourite part. The singer and the drummer played a song written by the singer for his sister. It was all accoustic and stuff. Touching really...

Not much else to report.... I have my first indoor Ulitmate Frisbee game tomorrow night at 1045. that's like WAY past my bedtime.... so you'll probably find me sleeping on the bench or something.... oh, and i'm going to CATS this weekend. Yay Rumpleteazer and Mungojerrie!

For those who rocked, we salute you!

K, So apparently November is crazy busy month for this kid. This last week was Deliscious bbq, Cousins in town, Nana's bday supper, Studying, Bball, Ulti Playoffs, Bad Relgion. The coming week is 401 Presentation, Midterm, Lee's birthday, Myles' birthday, Huskie's bball season opener, numerous local concerts, Leigh's birthday, Alanna's birthday, bball, Spanish quiz, kin quiz, Darcy's birthday and Bedouin Soundclash Concert...

I have my 401 project presentation tonight. I'm super nervous. Hopefully, I'll be able to stick with just speaking english...

I also have a Plant Biochem midterm tomorrow.

"But Kirsty, Why are you taking PLANT biochem? You don't even like plants!"

I know, I needed a class and this one worked. Biochem is alright. Plus right now it's all glycolysis and citric acid cycle stuff, which i've taken before, but that in no way means i'll know my shit. In fact, it means i'll just an even lower grade! plus, biochem is my favourite type of class to do super awesome on the midterms and then bomb the final. Except this might be a slight variation, cause i did alright on the first midterm, but the 2nd one... well we'll just see about that...

In other crazy busy news, My Ultimate frisbee team got 2nd in the Campus Rec Fall League on sunday. The team we played in the final had 8 goals against for the entire season, and in the final, we got 6 against them. We weren't execpting to win or anything so almost doubling their goals against is a victory in my books. ok, well maybe not....

I went to the Bad Religion and Anti-flag concert on sunday night too. Crowned King opened. I missed it, but i heard they sucked. Anti-Flag was next. they were pretty darn good. They played a bunch of songs i don't know the names of. The bass guitar guy can jump really high in his skinny black jeans. i was impressed. They also played Turncoat! Killer! Liar! Thief! and finished it off with Gotta Die Gotta Die Gotta Die for your Government Gotta Die for your Country like Shit!

Bad Religion was bloody amazing. They played 21st century digital boy, supersonic, sorrow, infected, epiphany, i want to conquer the world. I haven't listened to BR in a long time and i had forgotten how freaking awesome they were. So much energy in concert too. I went to the concert with Jeremy who had never listened to much of Bad Religion before. He's a fan now! and now he can actually say that he listens to punk rock music. 'Cause these guys are pretty much the originators of punk.

All in all, a pretty damn fine concert. For the encore they ended with a little AC (lightnight bolt) DC, "For those who rocked, we salute you!" (ya i know it's for those about to rock.... but it was at the end of the concert so it worked!) Everyone who wasn't there, missed out!

Time to get back to the books

Here comes the briiiiiiiide

Ok, so it's not me.

I got an email today from Carolyn Ganes, who's way far away in Eugene, Oregon where she's playing basketball for the University of Oregon Ducks. After her exhibition game a couple nights ago, the announcer said that there was a "special presentation" and out walks her boyfriend, Brian. He said some romantic things and how much he loves her and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. etc. etc. and then he got down on one knee! and SHE SAID YES!!! then she said her team rushed the court like someone had just hit a buzzer beater! haha

So of course, i'm INCREDIBLY happy for Carolyn and Brian. And even though i've never met Brian, he gets points already for asking Carolyn in the most perfect way. She said the ring is pretty freakin' perfect too.

Anyways, this news has made my bad day get a little better. Thanks CJ! Now i need to get back to studying...

I'm walking the red carpet....

It's been a while since my awesome walk home with Britoni and Derek. I've since joined the Derek fan club.

Last weekend was Halloween. I went on a scavenger hunt on Saturday night. Everyone got dressed up and off we went. Amanda brought the papers. We had 7 pictures to get and 3 items. We accomplished all but one... Stupid Sutherland den... Anyways, it was a blast. We won a $5 gift certificate for East Side Mario's between the 7 of us for having the funniest picture. Some of our team managed to get 3 strangers outside of WalMart to get into a shopping cart. Yay Team!

Jake, Britoni and Derek came to pick me up later that night. They got lost. Obviously, they don't follow directions well. Luckily for Jake, the party house was pretty obvious by the person laying on the ground that he had to step over. We went back to Britoni and Derek's and hung out for a while longer, played some drinking games and watched some ebaumsworld. Then Jake gave me a ride home where i proceeded to lose my keys. Fortunately, they were in the car.

The next morning, I had an Ultimate Frisbee game at 12. We won, well i'm pretty sure we did. I had to leave early from our first game because I had to go to my basketball game. We were tied 27-27 at half, but we weren't able to to obtain the W. I got 6 points though. Next weekend is another bball game and Ultimate Frisbee playoffs. We're seeded no. 2 for playoffs cause another undefeated team had a better +/- that us. I think we have an easier pool though.

On actual Halloween night, we had a volleyball game. the whole team dressed up in football jerseys and most had eye-black cuase we're the Ex-NFLers. We're still undefeated in that league too!

I went to the library last night to get some stuff done. Jake and Dung were there too. Dung started shooting asparagus elastics, so of course, i had to shoot them back! Jake got caught in the cross-fire for the most part. Sorry Jake. I managed to get quite a bit done last night. i was impressed.... but taht'

It's Wednesday today, so that means it's time for One Tree Hill and wings at Maguire's later!
