Come on just snap, snap, snap your fingers for me

I saw Britoni at school today. And then i walked home with her and Derek.

Other than that, my day has been unremarkable.

Tonight the sky is painted

Another looong wednesday in the bag. Finals are coming up sooo quickly. But that only means that Mexico is coming up sooo quickly too! I hope my island is still there after that hurricane.

hmmm let's see.... Friday night was a Saskatoon HMD reunion of the gong show sorts. I started out at a Bbq at Tim's house cause Blake was home from Mexico City. and of coooourse, back from Mexico means we were drinking Te-Kill-Ya! Mixed with 7-up, it isn't so bad. Carli, Manda, Matt and I then went to Bacchus to meet up with Brehon and Josh and JL and JB and Keith and all those other guys. We did some shoooooters (which i don't really remember...) After that we went to Athena's and then to the Scuz and then i went home. Work the next day was a chore. i managed to do a whole lot of nothing.

I went to the Huskie Shootout game that night too. The huskies lost. It was a close game for the most part. Hopefully the season will turn out better.

Sunday, i played Ultimate Frisbee with my awesome team, Deliscious! We killed the first team we played. I even got a touchdown... or try... or whatever you call it... I got a point! Next time i'll have to think of a victory dance. Perhaps the Robot?

I picked up the new Thrice album (Vheissu) and the new Kanye West (Late Registration). I'm liking what i'm hearing from Thrice. I don't have a favourite song yet, i have to listen to it a couple more times, and actually pay attention when i do. There's lots of heavy stuff and lots of piano as of yet. I started reading the CD insert too. It talks about how they came up with the concept for the album. The band basically didn't talk for a while and came up with a bunch of stuff by themselves and then brought it all together and made Vheissu. I really wish i knew how to pronounce the name of the album....

Kanye West's new album is alright. Again, i have to listen to it more in order to get a better feal for it. I bought it cause i liked his previous album and i like Gold Digger.... mainly because i'll probably become a gold digger when i grow up... oh wait, that's gonna be never.

Adam sent me a whole bunch of new songs, these are one's i would suggest to check out:
(song - artist)
Theater - Gatsby's American Dream
Danny - Soapbox Paradox
The Unknown - Modesty panel
The Only Difference between Martyrdom and suicide is press coverage - Panic! at the Disco
Mixed Tape - Jack's Mannequin
Gone so young - Amber Pacific

And what else am i listening to right now?
Dance, Dance - Fall Out Boy
We Don't Care Anymore - Story of the Year
Number One - John Legend
Moment of Silence - Streetlight Manifesto
Podcast: Hi My Name Is Mark - Mark Hoppus (Blink 182, Atticus, etc)
Podcast: CBC Radio 3

Until next time, Keep Fit and Have fun!

And there's a piece of me in every single second of every single day

I attended my Kin 121 class for the first time in about week today. I probably should have skipped it and studied for my midterm tomorrow, but whatever. We had a guest lecturer. She talked about... health... or something...

The best part of the day came when at the end of class, Myles, who was sitting next to me, gets up and leaves really quickly, forgetting his jacket. His friend, Kevin, is still standing there so i grab Myles' jacket and give it to Kevin to put in his bag. Just as Kevin finishes doing up his bag, Myles comes back in, and see his jacket isn't on the chair where he left it. He looks all worried and says he has to go back to his previous class and since we usually go get soup after class, i went with him. The whole time we're walking with Kevin and Brennan, he's saying how he can't believe he forgot his jacket, it must be that he's really tired or something. It was kinda chilly, so I asked him if he wasn't a little cold without his jacket on the way to the Education building, cause it's a bit of a walk from Arts. He's like "I dunno, I guess i didn't notice."

So, Kevin goes off to his class and Myles and I walk back to arts to check for his "lost" jacket. He can't find it (surprise, surprise) so we have to walk ALL the way back to Education, where we had Kin. He had to go interupt a class so i just waited outside for him to go in. He comes back and says he can't find it, and since he was kinda bummed about losing his jacket, he bought cupcakes from the bake sale inside. He got 3 for $1 so i got 2 of them :) haha

After that, we finally get to STM for some soup and the whole time I keep asking if it was his favourite jacket (it isn't, but it was one of his good ones), and if he was happy it was kinda warm outside, so he dind't even need a jacket (yes).

At this point, i had to go to my class and he had to go meet Kevin (who has the jacket) for a ride home. I usually see Kevin after my class cuase he has a lecture in the same room as my lecture. So i think he wore the jacket to go meet Myles, or maybe his girlfriend did, i'm not sure, one of them did at least. I wish i coulda seen if Myles actually figured it out or not and how he reacted, but i had to go to class.... I guess i'll find out on friday when we have class again. haha

All in all, i had a really good time playing a joke on Myles. I know he'll get me back sometime soon.

On another note, my chemistry experiments havcen't worked for the past 2 weeks in my lab. I think i'm cursed or something... i just wanted to make Psilocybin.... and my knee hurts, but only when i'm walking.

I should be studying...

I was unable to attain the standards set forth by this institution.

Next term will consist of studying, once again, for the most miserable test on the planet. While most people call this test the "MCAT". I prefer "burden of my life" or maybe "locked door to my future." I'll find that fucking key someday...

There was some ringin' in my ears...

So a couple weeks ago, I went to 5 concerts in 7 days. I wrote a blog about the first one, which was The Used, Alexisonfire, Underoath and No Warning or something like that.

It went something like this (gotta love the cut and paste):

Last night was The Used and Alexisonfire. Opening for them was No Warning and Underoath. I didn't get to see No Warning because we got there too late. Underoath started to play as we rolled up... but we got a little hung up on the way in from the parking lot... so i only got to see half of their set. From what i saw, they were really good. The keyboardist was the most entertaining to watch by far. He was rocking out. There was a creepy guy standing next to me, who was impressed by the guitarist on the left 'cause he kept spinning his guitar around his neck... i was like coool... i'ma move over here now...

Alexisonfire took the stage, shortly after a change of equipment. I'm not sure how long they played for, but it was a good length. they played alot from their new album "Watch Out!" and a couple of their singles like "Waterwings" and "44 Caliber Love Letter". The sound was awesome. They sounded alot like their album except with a whole lot more energy... you know, the kind you can't get from a little spinning disc. They played my favourite song, "Control." I liked it on the CD and it made me love it even more live. After another change of equipment and a rush of excitment from those i was with, the lights dimmed and everyone piled into the mosh pit. Now, i have to mention that earlier in the day, while playing my first game of ultimate frisbee, i rolled my ankle running. yup, just running. (p.s we won! Deliscious!)

Continuing on, lights dimming, mosh pit crowding, then it goes pitch black. Next thing, there's drumming and 3 dudes come into the blacklight, and they're just beating the heck outta those drums... and aluminum cans... fire extiguishers... and mufflers? It was "chido". They put down some pretty awesome beats. This band, they were not The Used as everyone was expecting, but the Street Drum Corps. I had heard about these guys earlier this summer in something from the Warped Tour. The "SDC" is made up of guys from other punk bands that got together in April of 2004. They played a couple of shows with the Warped tour this year, but didn't make it up to Calgary, which is the one that i attended. I'd have to say, this was a highlight for me. Their music was so tight and entertaining. I could have watched them for a while. Plus, they were fun to dance to :) The Used opened with Take It Away (I totally called that) and even more people crowded into the stage area. I lost all the people i came with, which was expected- I usually get lost at shows anyways. I found some people at the back and continued to enjoy from there, where i had a lot more room. There was so much energy coming from that stage, which is the reason i've become a live show junkie. The Used, like Alexisonfire, played alot of their new album and quite a few of their old songs too. My favourites were, as always, Box full of sharp objects and the Taste of Ink. I was kinda disappointed because the set seemed very similar to the one they played at Taste of Chaos (March 2005). There were a few changes of course, but i guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? I still had a good time.

Up next in the concert series was Rufio, Moneen, and Yellowcard. I had to stand in line for quite a while so I missed most of rufio’s set. I still managed to make it in there for “Above Me”, which also happens to be my favourite song of theirs. I was disappointed that I had missed most of their set, because last time I saw them (Warped Tour ’03), I really enjoyed it. I bought a T-shirt.

Moneen was 2nd for the evening. They had a pretty entertaining set. At one point, they had the crowd doing a sing-along. They split them down the center and had the one side going “touch my booty!” and the other said screaming “NO!” I laughed.

Yellowcard’s set was pretty remarkable. they played some songs… it’s kinda what they do…. Including Way Away, AWOL, Cigarette, and their encore: Ocean Avenue, which they said they’ve only played once before. Ya ok. The one song I wanted them to play, but they didn’t, was Something of Value. That woulda made this concert amazing.

Concert Number 3 was Corb Lund and The Hurtin’ Albertans at Louis’. They started playing at 1130pm and went for a good 2 hours. The show sold out so it was packed in there. We managed to get some good spots, although there were stupid drunk girls ‘dancing’ behind me and kept bumping into me. The music, well it was excellent. There was a drummer, a guitarist/banjoist/slide-guitarist/etc/etc, and upright-bassist and Corb Lund, who played an acoustic guitar with some duct tape accents. Everyone there was right into, it was great. He played "time to switch to whiskey", "five dollar bill," "buckin' horse rider," and "the truck got stuck" (his latest single). I was gettin really tired so left aroun 1am, it was a thursday night and i had an 830am class the next morning. apparently that was a bad move, since i missed Mr. Lund play THE HOCKEY SONG, with NEW verses! everyone who saw it, said it was the greatest thing ever. i believe it too.

Friday night brought The Reason, Comeback Kid, Bane and STRUNG OUT to Louis'.
The reason: good.
Comeback kid: really good
Bane: the lead singer looked like he had down syndrome. My friend was doing security for the show and he was leaning against teh front of the stage. The lead singer of bane was singing to the crowd cuase some of the kids knew every single word. the singer was right next to my friend's head and reached around his neck and gave a little squeeze amd wrapped the mic cord around him too! what a jerk.
Strung out: awesome as ever! they played new stuff, they played old stuff. they played velvet alley and bring out your dead. Apparently they were jerks to the staff working there.

Saturday night was the CD release show for the "stories from the bridge city" 8 local bands played. Adolyne (with my favourite rocker Lando) were 2nd in line. they had a pretty powerful 25 min set. I bought a t-shirt. it says a bad word on the back. haha i love it. Chimpan-A to Chimpan-Z, Adelade and the Ultimate Power Duo all had awesome sets. They were short but sweet. haha

Anyways, that was my week of concerts. it was a long week and it was a great time. I can't wait til Nov 6 for Bad Religion and Anti-Flag (with a possibility of PENNYWISE!!!!!!!!) and i can't wait even more for circa survive, MCR, and THRICE!!!!!! Both announcements of those shows made me jump-up-and-down happy.

Pz.

This is the craze only we can bestow

Sooo Thanksgiving long weekend, the indicator that midterms are looming dead ahead.

But, instead of studying on this gloooorious day, I'm going for a walk.
