Horseshoes!

I must have a couple shoved somewhere unpleasant....

Today, I was reading in the student lounge, MUMPS, in the Health Science building. Everything was cool. I got some of my reading done- I'm behind 'cause I slept in yesterday for the class. So I finish my reading, and leave. Get home, eat some cereal, watch some tv. I go to do some online banking and... Where's my wallet? Last time I had it was in the lounge... So I race back to school and LUCKY ME, it's THERE! Right where I was sitting.

So, cool. Got my wallet back. Wicked. I go to spin class. I have a love/hate relationship with spin. Afterwards, as I'm driving home and I realize that my watch is nowhere to be found. So I turn the car around, ruch back to the gym, get to the locker I was using... LUCKY ME, it's THERE! Right where I left it.

Lucky me. Lucky me. I need to pay attention. Wow.

I'm so far away and I just can't see you

Hi Team,

I haven't posted in a while... So I thought I'd write just a short something...

The past 10 days have been quite eventful.
- working lots at the Cluricaune, which is good 'cause I need money for Fernie (yay!)
- I won a portable dvd player at the staff christmas party.
- my broccoli sprouts are not working the way they are supposed to.
- I saw a guy jump off the bridge -he was strapped to a snowboard and it was pretty sick. Photos to come soon, maybe.... either that or they'll be in an upcoming issue of Snowboard Canada (i think)
- A lady got pulled over right in front of me while I was walking to school. And like, right in front of me, as in I had to stop in the middle of the street cause she wasn't stopping.
- A block later, I saw 2 people almost get run over by a bus that ran a red light.
- I saw Rise Against and Billy Talent. I was this close to talking to the lead singer from Rise Against. It was awesome.
- The musical repertoire on my ipod is getting old. I need new, amazing music. Very open to suggestions....

That's all I got.

P.s. Anyone want to give me a job for the summer?? That would be SUPER.

CUUC:: Saskatche-WHAT!?!

CUUC 2006 (Ottawa) (back row): Jena Fair, Trenna Brusky, Kirsten Taylor,
Jessica Pawlik, Courtney Dalton. Middle Row: Janna Brusky, Ali Burton, Crystal
Boeur. Front Row: Linda Walter, Maxine Holmqvist, Alison Theede, Amy Hodgins,
Erin Bingham, Sunita Seshia, Hillarie Tasche.

Well, it's a month later and i'm just getting around to updating this. CUUCs was a blast. Ottawa is a great city. We learned that what happens on Parliament Hill, stays on Parliament Hill. We stayed with the Bradfords in their beautiful home in Kanata. Our fields were in Mannotick, which was about a 30 minute drive away.

We started off with being seeded 11th our of 11 teams. We played pool play games on Friday and Saturday morning. We went 2-1 on friday, only losing to U of T 9-8 at universe point after them calling a point in, that was clearly out the back, and a miscalled middle start off the pull. Our wins were 13-1 against both Sherbrooke and McMaster. Saturday, we played one more pool play game, and lost to the Queen's Paperbag Princesses. We played our whole team, while they only played their starters.

We played McGill in the Quarter Finals and lost. It was one of our best games (Our other good game was against Queen's), and one our hardest games. We were very pleased with our games that day, even though we didn't win. So we decided, since we didn't win that, we were going to win the party. And, we did. Team Sask won the Canadian University Ultimate Boat Race Championships. Our girls, well mostly Amy and Jess, showed the rest of the country how to drink beer.

Party People

Team Sask: Party Winners

Sunday, well.... Let's just not talk about it. We ended up 8th... which should have been 5th... 'nuff said. We won the party!!

We got to watch both the women's and open finals between McGill and Ottawa, and McGill and Toronto, respectively. Ottawa took it for the women and Toronto in the open division. The Open final was really exciting. Congrats to both teams ('cause I know that people from both teams will be reading this....)

Injuries for the weekend were all ankles. Jess, Janna, Jena and Erin all sprained theirs. Or so they thought. It turned out, Jena had actually broken her tibia all the way through at one spot and partially at a couple other spots. Luckily, it hadn't slipped out of place because she hurt it Saturday during the day, dance all night and then played a couple points on sunday! She's a trooper. We didn't even know she was hurt!!! She in a cast now and hopefully it's healing properly.

Anyways, good times were had. I might even take a class next year so I can go again!

Riddle me this, Batman

Ok, I just found out about this webpage:

http://www.deathball.net/notpron/levelone.htm

It's a puzzle riddle thing. It's addictive. It's competitive. Only 0.001% of people who have attempted it have completed all 139 levels. I'm at level 8, so far. It's definitley frustrating when you can't figure it out... but once you do, Instant Gratification! Well, until you get stuck on the next level!

I was in Whistler last weekend for the Alpenglow Ultimate Tournament. I got to play with people on Furious George(2005 UPA Open Champs), Roughriders (Elite Women's Touring team from Vancouver), Bluebombers (Women's Touring team from Vancouver), TFP (2005 Canadian National Mixed Champs) and UBC (as in the University). Everyone I played with was awesome, like wow. I learned alot. It was great. I hope to go back next year. We were a bunch of Dirty Pirate Hookers, yaaarrr.

That's all i got for now. I'm taking a couple days off from playing ultimate. I've got mad shin splints right now...

Twenty-Two

Don't know what I'm supposed to do
or how to be, to get some more out of me
I'm twenty two
So far away from all my dreams
I'm twenty two
feeling blue
- Millencolin
I started writing this blog the day after my 22nd birthday. I've been excited all year for this day to come so I can sing this song all year. When I got home from the lake, where I spent the weekend, and looked up the lyrics, I realized that the chorus was actually way more appropriate to how I've been feeling and how things have been going lately than I first thought.

I'm 22 years old now. I'll be done my B.Sc (honours hopefully) in Anatomy and Cell Biology in December. I'm going to go travel for a term and then I was going to get into medicine. That was the plan, which has since changed. I just found out last week that, once again, I failed the MCAT. And once again, it was the verbal reasoning section that kept me back. After I wrote the exam, alot of people asked me how I thought I did. My response was always "good, but you can never tell with this bloody exam." And that's exactly how it ended up. I thought I had done better with the VR section than my previous attempts, but this time I got my lowest score ever. I don't get this exam. I'm not sure what it's trying to test. I'm perplexed as how to how I can improve my scores. I'm really fed up with everything involving that exam right now.

Where am I going with this? Well in order to reach my dream of getting into Med School and becoming a Forensic Pathologist, I have to pass the MCAT first. I already told myself I'm not writing it again in August because I've done the past 2 summers and it sucks. It really does. I don't think I'd even have the time for studying since I'm working full time and playing Ultimate at least 4, but sometimes 6 days a week with tournaments pretty much every other weekend. I'm loving it and I'm not willing to give that up right now. So for right now, my dream seems so far away.

That's not to say that I don't have a back-up plan. I've got some other things I'd like to attempt. I'm gonna go travel for a couple of months in 2nd term, since i'll be done my degree in the first term. It will most likely be Europe again, but maybe not? I've haven't made that decision for certain yet.

I guess I have some other things I'd like to do in the meantime, too. Maybe attempt a Masters, but that depends on a couple of things. Maybe apply for Physiotherapy, but I'm not sure if my marks are good enough for that. There's nothing for certain though, I don't think anything is.

I guess all this uncertainty has me "feeling blue" at times, and I was definitely feeling blue after I got my MCAT results. I got over it quicker than last time though. Although, it is still a bit of a sore spot for me.

K, that's all i have to write at the moment. I'm going to try and post more often.
